CLÉMENT GOUVERNEUR

Brand- and Corporate Design Development | 2014-2016

GOOD DESIGN DOESN'T AGE

Clément Gouverneur was a passionate entrepreneur of the early eyewear industry. In 1878, at the age of 26, he established his own factory in Morez/France manufacturing spectacle frames.

While the factory was still producing eyewear in the present this genius got out of focus. The idea was to bring back original iconic masterpieces that have been developed and manufactured in the factory for the past 138 years. The goal was to develop a self confident and unique approach which reflects the heritage without being classic only. Defining this brand and giving it a unique and appropriate appearance was not only an honor but a pleasure for me.

THE RESULTS

The positive reactions the communication design caused were flattering. But more relevant is the effect the concept and design had on the business development.  The number of cities where Clément Gouverneur and GOUV/AU (the sister brand of Clément Gouverneur) are available, rose from 0 to over 300 – from Paris to Shanghai. And the number of countries where you find the brand rose from 0 to 23 – from Canada to Finnland. This happened of course not just because of the brand identity and the communication design I developed, but it made its contribution.

My input to the project covers:
_ brand focus, brand story and text
_ corporate design development and execution
_ model selection and shooting direction
_ art direction and communication design for the pop up space in Paris
